Newsletter June 2017
We would like to welcome Nicky Smith to our team. Nicky is an experienced level 3 practitioner who has worked in a number of local preschools.
We would like to welcome some new Little Sunbeams who are joining us this term; Arnie and Teddie-mai. We hope they thoroughly enjoy their preschool experience with us.
30 Hours Childcare
As stated in our previous newsletter eligible Parents can now apply for 30 hours childcare and tax-free child care; this funding starts September 2017. We are able to offer a maximum of 26 funded hours to a limited number of parents. Should you wish to take the full 30 hour entitlement it is up to individuals to source another setting of childminder to share this funding
Please let us know asap if you are eligible for this funding and wish to secure extra hours with us in September.
St John School Fayre Saturday 10th June
A reminder that we will have a tombola stall at the St Johns school fayre please bring in your donations for this by Friday 9th June.
Our AGM (Annual General Meeting) is taking place on Wednesday 5th July, 8pm at Locks Heath Free Church; where important decisions are taken regarding the running of the preschool. This is your chance to see what happens behind the scenes, and to have your say. An invitation letter will be sent to you shortly. All parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to come to the AGM. Please make it a priority.
Please remember to include a freezer block in your child’s packed lunch bag. Our room does get warmer in the summer and we have no facilities to keep your child’s lunch refrigerated.
Makaton is a language programme using Speech, Sign and Symbols. It provides basic communication, everyday vocabulary and helps to develop language and literacy skills. Both Amanda and Rebecca have received training in Makaton and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please see our new Makaton information board and start to learn our sign of the week.
As your child’s first and most enduring educator home learning is very important. Please take a look at our new Home Learning board which gives you tips and ideas to try with your child. We have also purchased some Home Learning resource rucksacks packed with Physical Development ideas for you to play with your child at home. Please speak with a member of staff if you wish to borrow one of these.
Writing names on your child’s possessions
Please write clear visible names on your child’s possessions, especially bags, lunch boxes and drinks bottles.
At a recent school transition event the school nursing team asked us to remind all parents of children starting school this September, that their child should have had their preschool MMR booster by now. The 4-in-1 booster vaccine is routinely offered to children at the age of three years and four months old. If you think your child has not had this injection already please contact your GP.
Sometimes it is tough being a parent and everyone needs a bit of help sometimes. Home start is a volunteer service of parents that support other parents. If you would like to find out more about the service or just need a bit of help contact;
Tel : 01329 825858.
Sun tan Lotion / Summer ready
Please indicate with a yes or no on the signing in sheet whether you have applied sun tan lotion to your child before a session.
You may also wish to provide a hat for your child (Named Please). Please also remember that we ask children do not wear open toed sandals or crocs as these do not offer the children’s feet the best protection when playing in our outdoor space and on the ride on toys. Thank you.
Payment of Fees
A reminder that your half termly fees invoice states that “payment must be paid with 14 days” BUT “that if you wish to pay by installments please see Amanda or Lyn to discuss a payment plan that suits your individual requirements”. As you will appreciate we are a small preschool and unexpected late payments can have a significant impact upon us. Please let us know asap when payments will be made if after the 14 days.
